Anti-Aging Fitness Methods That Set You Apart

The data found in this article comes from approximately 30 years of being a competitive athlete and ‘distance running’ coach. I’ve competed in over 1000 races ranging from distances of 1 mile to 13.1 miles (half-marathon), and still hold 2 state records in the 50+ category. All of the exercises below, however, do not necessarily need to be part of training for any particular competition (even though they would apply to many sports).

I always recommend Isometrics as a starting point in any anti-aging exercise technique. “Isometrics” are a type of muscle toning exercise that pits (or pushes) a specific muscle, or muscle group, against either itself or a hard surface. I particularly recommend the following versions of isometrics [and in varying quantities]: various styles of push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, “dips” and jumps. If you need a visual, just go to YouTube (or maybe Wikipedia) and enter the name, such as “Crab-Walks” and you see it in action.

When you are doing Isometrics, I like to add the important aspect of a cardiovascular element. Jumping for example is an essential and extremely important exercise when you begin to age, especially if you are starting to gain weight past age 50.
